around that time, i.e. towards
to end of November. We all tend to put off the somewhat tedious task of
sending out Christmas cards. But how long can you wait? Exactly one day
after Thanksgiving the Christmas craze begins. So our best answer as to
when to send out your Christmas cards would be around that time, i.e.
towards to end of November.
This should give your Christmas
cards plenty of time to arrive to their destination and avoid the
Christmas rush hour. In any rate, don't push it! If you send out your
Christmas cards after December 15, chances are they'll get stuck in a
Christmas postal-jam. If you have relatives or customers out of state,
make it December 10, to be on the safe side. Another thing to consider
is giving your recipients a proper chance to reply before Christmas, so
the greetings will not be one-sided. Our December-15-dead-line addresses
this requirement as well. One thing that really helps sending Christmas
cards on time is turning it into a fun task, an operation, preferably a
family one with each family member in charge of one or more step. So
first, say it out loud: "I will send Christmas cards on time this year."
Great. Now make a list! A list is crucial to get the job done. It's a
good idea to break your list into several categories, such as "Top
Priority" or "Hanukkah Card". Once your list is done go over it to make
sure you haven't forgotten someone important. Now you're ready to shop:
you'll need cards, envelopes, stamps and return address labels. Back
home, ask your kids to apply stamps and return address labels. Assigning
tasks to your kids is a wonderful way to turn sending Christmas cards
into a fun family activity. The clock is ticking; you all sit together,
take part in something that has to be accomplished. It gives a great
sense of togetherness.
Remember, you're not the only procrastinator when it comes to sending
out Christmas cards. It seems like an innate character trait of the
human race to deal with the Christmas cards ordeal in the very last
minute. You don't want your recipients wondering why on earth you forgot
them this year, only to find your beautiful Christmas card at their
mailbox on mid-January :-)
Ho, Ho, Merry Christmas!
