What should your Christmas card say?
Merry Christmas or Seasons Greetings? Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?
Think of the negative feelings you might evoke when greeting a Jewish
customer with Merry Christmas. You won't dream of sending Happy Hanukkah
cards to your Christian customers, right? So choose wisely your
Christmas card wording and theme. It is of course of crucial importance
that your corporate Christmas cards reflect professionalism and
respectability. Yet avoiding religious themes in your corporate cards
and sticking to generic Season's Greetings is not always the best
solution. Some of your customers expect a Christmas card to read "Merry
Christmas". To avoid the trap of sending Christmas card and mistakenly
offending your customer, you should consider sending holiday cards
earlier for Thanksgiving, which is relatively devoid of religious tones,
or later, for New Year's Day. The potential of cultivating relationships
with your customers via business holiday cards is not to be overlooked,
yet one must exercise caution and sensitivity when sending cards. |
